I lived in one of these apartments in Guápulo for three years. First things first, the landlord is just wonderful. If at any time anything was broken, he was always available and would fix it right away. I always appreciated and respected his professionalism with his duties and finances and was always pleased with the amount of personal attention and care that he gave to both the apartments and his tenants. I always felt safe and secure in the apartment and thought the location was perfect.

The apartments are conveniently located two blocks from Gonzales Suarez St.; however, they are on the side of the hill, which allows for spectacular views of the valley below and a snow capped mountain in the distance. The main restaurant and bar area called Mariscal is only a short taxi ride away (5 minutes), but these apartments are out of the hustle and bustle of the city. There are also some very good places to eat and drink in Guápulo.

The apartments themselves are beautiful and I appreciated his taste in décor and design. Some of the living rooms and bedrooms are built with giant windows overlooking the valley below. There is also a nice garden area, available to all tenants, for relaxing during the day or an evening drink. The apartments have a relaxing and comfortable community feel, where I became friends with many of the other tenants. As a young professional (I was in my late 20s), or a professional looking for a safe, comfortable, and relaxing apartment in Quito, I would highly recommend these apartments in Guápulo.

The apartment I lived in for 2 years was located in the perfect place; you will enjoy a view of a volcano peak and be close to all of the amenities you need to survive and get to work. Because the apartments are rented to many foreigners, meeting people in your building is easy just in case you want to build that type of community. Finding an apt in Quito is a bit of a problem, a lot of landlords are dishonest, will take your money, and there are all sorts of problems; especially if you do not speak Spanish. Also, most apartments require that you buy additional items like a bed or furnish the place yourself. My landlord was simply the best. He is honest, funny, caring, and speaks English fluently. If you rent from him you will have no problems or issues. I remember he would always go out of the way to make me feel at home and quickly solve any issues that would arise with the apartments. Simply put, he is the best land lord anyone could ask for who rents some of the best looking buildings in all of Quito.

I am writing today to express my satisfaction in renting my apartment. As an international school teacher, I have found that the apartments meet a key combination of location, safety, size, quality and pricepoint. The landlord is a caring and attentive person who sees to it that all your needs with his apartments are quickly and efficiently dealt with. All upkeep and maintenance is personally taken care by himself. The rents include all amenities with the exception of internet, and this is truly an added convenience as you never personally have to deal with bills payments or the very slow banking system in Ecuador. The landlord is flexible. Most importantly, unlike the vast majority of local landlords, the owner conducts business to the standard most gringos expect from their landlords. By that I mean he does not try and steal damage deposits or the like (which happened to me before coming to this apartment!). So if you are looking for quality, affordable apartments and a caring, trustworthy landlord, I would highly recommend renting these apartments.

These Guápulo apartments are designed in a traditional style with attention taken to every detail. You feel as though you have stepped into another world and time. The location is stunning, and the view of the church below is breathtaking. Guápulo is an artist's community, apparent in the soul and spirit of the neighborhood. The landlord is very easy to relate to, fair in his dealings with us and always went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and secure. We could not recommend the apartments more enthusiastically.

When I arrived in Quito, the landlord came to pick me up from the airport. From that first experience, it was clear that I had made a wise choice. The loft apartment I have in Guápulo has not only an extraordinary view, but is also spacious, architecturally interesting, and very reasonably priced. The landlord is honest and reliable. He is always eager to help with any problems, and is genuinely interested in ensuring that his tenants are happy. Guápulo is a wonderful, diverse neighborhood that has preserved its small-town traditions. Gonzalez Suarez and La Floresta nearby are great too, with lots of restaurants and bars. Overall, the location is ideal.

I enjoyed living in my apartment in Guápulo for 2 years. Guápulo itself is an 'artsy' character neighborhood with a few nice restaurants and cafes which are scattered down a charming cobblestone street. The place offered stunning views of a valley, a 400-year-old church, a nearby town, and a snow-capped mountain in the distance. The apartment in Guápulo was situated in a nice location in Quito - about a 15 to 20-minute walk to the entertainment district and a 10 to 15-minute walk to another character neighborhood called La Floresta which has many smaller shops, cheap restaurants and fruit/veggie stands. A 25-cent bus ride takes you to the next town where you can pick up a long-distance bus heading toward the rainforest.

Both landlords speak English and were helpful in arranging things such as internet hook-up, or providing general local advice. Safety was a priority in both buildings, as there was a double door. I always felt comfortable in the apartment, both in terms of safety and function. Overall, the apartment I stayed in was excellent, and the friendly nature of the landlord, his family and staff helped make my experience in Quito enjoyable.

It's hard to believe that I live in Quito, because the view from my window is all green - no city in sight, only garden, green hillsides, and faintly in the distance, volcanoes. Living up here on the hill overlooking Guápulo and the Cumbayá valley, we are literally on the edge of Quito but it feels like we live somewhere far away from the city. And yet, we are not so far after all: a block up the hill are restaurants, bars and pharmacies, I can walk to work (in "central Quito") in about 20 minutes, and most everywhere I would want to go is less than a $2 cab ride away. The apartments themselves are roomy and have their unique style, with lots of wood, tile, brick and stone, making each apartment unique and creative. It's the best of both worlds: the apartment has the artistic feeling of Guápulo and it has the location of Gonzalez Suarez without being an overpriced, anonymous and massive apartment building. Finally, the place has two special features most places don't: the landlord is supremely helpful, always available if we need something, and an all-around great person to know; and second, the building has a community feel - neighbors know and help each other out, so if you need to borrow an egg, want someone to go to the market with you, or feel like having company, it's just a knock away. It's like having roommates, without actually having to live with them. In sum: it's a great place, and I can only recommend it.

I cannot recommend the landlord or his apartments strongly enough. I lived there for 2.5 years in what is probably one of the top apartments in all of Guápulo. I called it the "rock star bachelor pad" because it was huge, and the entire west wall was windows... 8 meter tall windows that give you the most breathtaking views of the Cayambe volcano and the valley down below. Quite simply, you will never live in a better apartment the rest of your life. The landlord handles all of your bills payments (electricity, phone, etc.) and believe me you really don't want to do these. You have to wait in line and deal with inattentive staff. If you have everything exactly right, sometimes it still doesn't work. The landlord also speaks perfect English, which can be useful if you don't already speak Spanish. In conclusion, you really cannot go wrong. He's a top notch landlord with even better apartments and he's right there for anything you need. He is used to dealing with foreigners and is entirely trustworthy, something whose importance also cannot be overstated in Ecuador. You will be living in perhaps the coolest place in Quito with a view that cannot be equaled, anywhere. I recommend the apartments without any reservation whatsoever.

I was very lucky to be living in this apartment while I was working for the UN in Quito. I especially enjoyed the stunning view over the village of Guápulo, the snow capped volcanoes at the horizon and the beautiful mountains. Another plus is the fantastic and well kept garden, where I used to do my morning yoga. I really can't recommend this place enough. The landlord is just phenomenal who was extremely helpful and accommodating. The apartments are very close to everything in Quito, while being calmly tucked away on the other side of the mountain - which gets you away from the pollution and the traffic. If I ever were to go back and live in Quito, this would without a doubt be my first choice.

My wife and I love it here. Our apartment has character and style, and the view is breathtaking. Moving into the Guápulo apartment has made our transition to the Quito area very easy and enjoyable. The owners display a genuine concern for their tenants' well being, and go well above normal landlord duties.

I rented my apartment and it was an absolute pleasure. The apartments are amazingly spacious, lots of light, and access to an adorable garden with a breathtaking view. Coming from New York, I was a little nervous about living alone and in such a HUGE apartment, but the building was filled with many other friendly professionals, so I was never lonely, and quickly adjusted to not living in a closet. Comfort aside, the apartments are extremely convenient. The location is great, right beneath the Gonzalez Suarez St. where you can easily find cabs, food, etc. Fresh water, electricity, phone, gas, and Cable TV (HBO!) are all included with the rent. Many of my other friends had to deal with the headache of finding gas tanks and paying for electricity (trust me, these among many other seemingly simple things are serious issues in Ecuador), but for those of us who rented this apartments, we had a lot less to worry about. The landlord will fix things with no delay, and sometimes even before you realize they are broken! I had a great time living in my Spanish-style Guápulo apartment and strongly recommend renting it! Enjoy!

Living in our quaint apartment in Guápulo was honestly one of the highlights of our year living abroad in Quito. The view from our window was absolutely majestic, and a treasured memory. The garden and grounds were meticulous and artistic. Living in Guápulo itself was a rich experience, with its Spanish colonial charm, celebrations, and vistas. My daughter and I felt very safe and taken care of by the landlord, his family, and staff.

I was a renter in 2010-2011. I can honestly say that the landlord is one of the best landlords I've ever had. His apartments are clean and airy, with great views. He is attentive as a landlord and cares a lot about the community and how he creates the space. And the location is ideal: downtown Quito and the Mariscal are both easily accessible, but Guápulo is outside of the noise and pollution of Quito proper. Meanwhile, Guápulo is a fantastic community in its own right, with great bars and restaurants are only walking distance away. And the view is spectacular: at times, even the three peaks of snowy Cayambe rise above the green valleys below. I highly recommend these accommodations for teachers, students, and humanitarian workers based in Quito.

I moved to Quito for a one year stay and at first I had no idea where to go. A coworker recommended I call the landlord, and as soon as I stepped into the beautiful apartment I said YESSSS! It had the most incredible views in all of Quito, overlooking the Guápulo church and the Andes mountains in the background. The apartments are tasteful and comfortable, Guápulo is in a fantastic location in Quito, close to many offices, shopping, and the historical center. Due to its location just on the other side of a hill, unlike the rest of Quito, Guápulo is quiet, and living there feels much more like living in a small town than the big city of Quito! The best part (other than the view) of living in the apartment was how comfortable and welcome I felt from day one. I soon met my neighbors, several of whom are still some of my closest friends. Although everything about the apartment was fantastic, it was the opportunity to belong to a community of neighbors which I appreciated the most!
